The band is led by R.E. Toner on vocals/acoustic and features Greg Ahmann on guitar, Austin Goff on drums and Steve Danielak on bass. They successfully blend "Outlaw Country" with a touch of homegrown Arizona style. Sioux has an original sound that is influenced by Waylon Jennings, CDB, Hank Jr., Lynyrd Skynyrd and Arizona Native Roger Clyne. Rob, also an Arizona native, started the band in 2007 when he wrote and produced the first record on his own using a cast of characters, and meshing many musical styles...
A Boy Named Sioux was formed in July 2007 and made a quick impression. They won the Phoenix New Times Best of Phoenix award 2008 for "Best Local Band". Also in 2008 they won the award for "Best Musical Group" at the Phoenix Music Awards. In 2009 they won "Country Group of the Year" at the Phoenix/L.A. Music Awards and in 2010 they finished in the top 5 for best local Band in the Phoenix New Times best of awards. The SIOUX fella's have opened for Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, Justin Moore on 2 occasions, Mark Wills, Keith Urban in conjunction with KNIX, Shurman and other national acts. They have also played the Tempe Tostitos Fiesta Bowl New Years Eve Block Party, the P.F. Changs Rock & Roll Marathon, Country Thunder Arizona in conjunction with KNIX, headlined at the Revolution Lounge at the Mirage, Las Vegas and too many back yard bonfires to count. ABNS second album was released sept 9th 2011 and is available on our website, cd baby and i-tunes. Keep on supporting Independent Music.
